The proposed fish processing plant in St. Laurent by Community Development First has the Lake Manitoba Fishermen's Association South Basin Chair excited.

Allan Gaudry was at the RM of St. Laurent Council meeting for the presentation, and says fishers are looking forward to the opportunity it gives them to market their fish.

"Other than Fresh Water (Fish Marketing Corporation), and having other businesses buying the fish, and creating jobs in the province. It's all good for Manitobans. It means better prices for fish, and it's a win-win, all around."

Gaudry understands the project will take three and a half years to complete, but it'll be worth the wait.

"$100,000,000 is a lot of money, and they say they have the funds to go ahead and plan and build this fish plant, so it's good news. It's still quite a wait yet before the plant is in operation, but at least we see something happening."
