Next year's Portage Potato Festival's headliner is George Canyon. That's from co-chair Cindy McDonald who says there's a lot of appreciation for country music in our area.

"We chose George because he's not only a great country musician. Country music seems to be a big draw in this area. He's also Canadian. He's won multiple Junos, and put out a fantastic album this year. We had so much encouragement for a country artist to perform."

Canyon will perform on the Saturday night of the festival, with local bands throughout the two days beforehand. McDonald says she's hoping to see a lot of people come out, and asks who'd want to miss George Canyon perform in a free concert.

McDonald says it should be one of their best years with the new location. She adds many details have yet to be worked out due to the expectation for so many people.
