A Portage la Prairie Transport Company's stepping up to help fire victims in Fort McMurray, and they need you to help.

Paraclete Transport's sending a semi-trailer load of items gathered at Fountain Tire and NAPA Auto Parts in Portage this Friday.

However, President Norm Thiessen says what's at those locations won't fill the truck, so they're planning to send a truck into Winnipeg tomorrow, if any groups or organizations there have goods they want to send. He outlines what those people need to do.

"If they could have volumes together, maybe pallet-load volumes, get together with groups, individuals, whoever can get together that kind of volume, and be able to put it onto a trailer on a pallet. Whether it's groceries, foods, diapers, those are the kinds of goods I've heard are in demand."

Thiessen has some recommendations about how to get them boxed and ready.

"If they had it palletized, it would need to be on dock level, so we could get it onto the semi-trailer. If they don't, we'll bring pallets and boxes, and that way, we can actually load it onto the trailer."

Thiessen sees this as an opportunity.

"Often we (Manitoba) are helped. I've heard talk about the flood that went through here in 1997, and how devastating it was, and how much other people helped us. This is an opportunity to for us to help others."
