Upgrades to Portage District General Hospital's Palliative Care Rooms are almost complete.

Sunset Palliative Care's Volunteer Coordinator Aldene Moroz says they were able to raise all the funds through public donations, and fundraising. Moroz says it's a big time for the organization.

"It's a real milestone for our organization. We were originally only scheduled for one, and the second one was able to be done at the same time now. That's really a great opportunity for us to be involved in this, and for the people in their final stages of life to enjoy a very nice setting in the hospital."

Moroz says the rooms are designed for comfort, and lists a couple features.

"The facilities are really designed to be like a room you would have maybe in your own home. We want them to be very, very comfortable, and we want people when they're staying overnight or long periods of time in that room to be extremely comfortable, too. We want them to have a fridge to be able to have any food at their disposal, have their coffee. Everything is there, it's just a wonderful room."

PortageOnline.com will have pictures when the rooms are complete.
