The Portage la Prairie Lions Club wrapped up its annual auction with more funds raised compared to last year's event. Vice President Anita Hart says she's happy.

Anita Hart"We did raise over $20,000. So, by the time expenses are paid off, it'll be $18,000 total. We had fewer buyers but more money was raised this year. I wasn't there this year but from what I understand there was a lot of fun had, and a lot of bidding wars."

She notes over 115 items were available between the numbers of the auction itself and the rainbow auction tables. Hart says last year's event raised just over $18,000 in total before expenses. She adds the Lions are always looking for service projects to help fund in the community and encourages you to give them a call to see how they help your effort.

If you'd like to get involved or would like to find out how they can help you, check out their Portage La Prairie Lions Facebook page, or you can call the Den and leave a message at (204) 692-2582. If you personally know any local Lions you can learn more from them.

Hart extends a big Lions' roar thank-you to all of the donors and auctioneers, Dave and Tim, as well as all of the buyers -- just overall gratitude to everyone who helped out.
