20 Portage Learning and Literacy Centre students received their high school diplomas.

The graduation ceremony took place at the CanadInns just over a week ago, and PLLC Education Director Caroline Cannon says it was a very special day and an incredible class.

"We had some really talented individuals. For our achievement day, we had them perform. One gentleman danced, another actually sang and wrote a song. We had students read their testimonial about their learning process through the year. So we really tried to individualize it, and we had some our member agencies attend, and it made for a real nice event."

Cannon says a big thank you is owed to her staff.

"It takes a whole staff effort. As we get close to the end of the year we establish a list of graduates, those that are on the list, those that are potential, and those that are struggling. It's those that are struggling that we like to pay close attention to, and it takes all teachers and all staff at all levels to come together to work alongside that student to give them all the supports they need to get them through to graduate. This year was no different, very proud of my staff."
