The Portage Friendship Centre held its annual Elders Christmas Feast today at McKenzie United Church in Portage la Prairie. Executive Director Shirley Bernard says over 200 people showed up.

"We do this every year, and we do it free for our elders. It's just awesome," Bernard says. "We all do the cooking ourselves. Everybody does it here on location. We don't order in or buy anything like that. We do it so we can serve our elders and thank them."

Raelene Abraham came with several students from PCI to help out. She says she helped serve, and enjoys helping people and making them smile.

Mildred Paul's been attending ever since PFC started and says she looks forward to being with all of the people each year.

Marlene LaCroix won the first door-prize consisting of a hand-made quilted wall-hanging, table runner and matching coasters. Johnny Dietrich provided the entertainment.
