Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) held their annual garage sale fundraiser yesterday and Friday in Portage la Prairie. Treasurer Staci Creighton says it went quite well.

One of the tables filled with items for sale"This is our second annual garage sale. We did very well last year, so we thought we'd try it again. All the proceeds go to PAWS, and the items that have been donated are from people around the community who wanted to help us fund-raise. And we're doing pretty good."

She outlines some items that were sold.

"We have lots of clothes that are left. We're selling them at a really great deal. They're 25 cents each. We have lots of dishes, we have some furniture items, lots of animal clothes and litter boxes. And we're also selling Kinsmen Kin Kar tickets."

Creighton explains what the Kin Kar Tickets are all about.

"What it is, you can win $25,000 dollars, or you can win four different sports packages. The Kinsmen get half the proceeds, and PAWS gets half."

She it's for helping our furry friends.

"All the proceeds we take in will go to our veterinary bills for all our animals in our care, food and just taking care of the animals. We just want to thank anybody who donated any items to the garage sale, and we hope to see you next year."
