The RM of Victoria is upgrading its water meter reader. Reeve Harold Purkess says their utility operator uses a remote reading system but the equipment has become outdated and parts are no longer available, so they have no choice but to purchase a new reader. Purkess notes as new technology comes along it's more advanced and requires training, which will be provided by Neptune Technology along with the device itself. He says the new reader will also record and store much of the data, adding their utility operator and the person who looks after the water billing will be trained how to store and retrieve the necessary information. Purkess says the cost for the new water meter reader is approximately eighteen hundred dollars and they hope to have the equipment in place and ready to go by June.
