The Stonewall town council is trying out a new idea when it comes to replacing their grass cutting and groundskeeping equipment. Mayor Lockie McLean says the Supervisor-Manager of their parks and arena is always pushing to improve things to give more value to the taxpayers. McLean notes one of the things he's suggested is buying all of their cutting and summer maintenance equipment in one shot rather than buying a little bit this year and a little more the following year. He says this means they'll put it out for tender to a number of parties to see if they can reduce the total cost.

He notes not only are they hoping to drive down the price in this manner, the equipment being purchased would also be much more efficient and will make it easier for the people who have to do the grass cutting and maintenance of the grounds in Stonewall. McLean says this will be a big capital item of approximately $150,000 but adds they'll get a lot more value for their money than if they purchased this equipment over a period of time. He notes they like to see this kind of initiative, adding one thing he's noticed with this particular Supervisor-Manager is that he has the ability not only to come up with good ideas but also to execute those ideas and get things done.
