Portage la Prairie's Doc Walker has released a new single called Heaven On Dirt.

It's part of the upcoming launch of the band's greatest hits album Echo Road - The Best of Doc Walker, and the 20/20 fall tour, based on 20 years and 20 hits.

Lead singer Chris Thorsteinson acknowledges Doc Walker's been around for longer than 20 years.

"The firts show we ever played was in Langruth, in 1990. But, really, we looked at it from a body of work aspect. We had "That Bridge" and "Good Day To Ride" locally around Portage and in Manitoba, but really, Doc Walker being a national thing started about 20 years ago."

Thorsteinson explains why he and Dave Wasyliw chose the title Echo Road.

"Echo Road is one of the songs on there (the album), and it was never released to radio. But listening to everything we've written, that songs stands out to us as writers as something that we're really proud of, from a songwriting standpoint, so it was to be able to call the new record Echo Road. I like the title because it almost sounds like a reflection of the past, too."
