Members of the Assiniboine River Basin Commission continue to work at developing a new land and water management plan. The group held its latest meeting last week in Minot, North Dakota.
Brandon-Souris MP Larry Maguire, a big supporter of the group's mandate, says the jurisdictions appear to be moving forward with a common goal.

"I think so. There are still some works in Saskatchewan that are apprehensive. But they do know that their water comes east and south, and back into Manitoba. It will take time, but there's a greater move for cooperation than there has been in the past, I believe. That has helped really build to the point where there's a lot of three-territory voices, if you will, being heard here -- Manitoba, Saskatchewan and North Dakota."

He's a strong supporter of the group's mandate to improve land and water management in the basin, and says they've come a long way in a few years.
