The RM of Grahamdale is anticipating some progress on the Moosehorn Flood Protection project. Reeve Clifford Halaburda says this has been ongoing for more than two years and they hope to see the project begin to move forward within the next six weeks. Halaburda notes every time there's a heavy rain event in Moosehorn they have water backing up, so it's been a problem in that vicinity for many years. He says the flood protection project is now in the planning stage with the engineering department, adding people in the area are happy to hear what's happening.

Halaburda notes they want to make Moosehorn a dry centre by ditching all around the town site and delivering the water out of town to the main drains going to Lake Manitoba. He says it's a bit premature to talk about the project's cost because they don't have figures in front of them just yet. Halaburda adds the cost will be shared between the municipality and the provincial government but he doesn't expect the RM to incur any great expense.
