Last night's Portage la Prairie City Council meeting saw some minor changes approved to the City's emergency plan.

Public Safety Committee Chair Councillor Ryan Espey says it's been in place for a number of years, and is updated from time to time.

"Nothing major. There were just some language changes and housekeeping things, but nothing that would effect how we're going to deal with a major emergency at this time"

Espey's stresses it's important to have a plan ready.

"Having been from a background in Corrections, these types of plans have been activated in the past. And it explains peoples' roles and responsibilities, and it's very clear on what your role is when you come into a situation. So it's something that is very valuable to have as an organization."

Equipment resource updates were also among the changes in the plan.
