Tomorrow kicks off of the 65th annual Mental Health Week. Executive Director for the Canadian Mental Health Association Central Region Jordan Friesen gives details on the campaign.

"Mental Health Week was started in 1951 and it's a national public awareness campaign developed and put on every year m=by the Canadian Mental Health Association. The idea is to promote public awareness of mental health issues and give Canadians, Manitobans and Portage la Prairians an opportunity to examine their ideas and values around mental health issues. "

He notes the CMHA Central Region has a week full of activities planned including a $5 barbeque on May 2nd in front of the CMHA drop in centre from 11:30- 1:30 to kick off the week and their 10th annual Office Olympics to cap off the week on Friday.

"On Friday the big event is our 10th annual Office Olympics. We are getting over the lunch hour and it's a chance for you to put together team of your co-workers and compete in some really funny office games and win some hilarious prizes. It's just a chance to de-stress at the end of the work week to promote your own mental health heading into the weekend. "

Friesen notes anyone can enter a team by calling the CMHA Central Region office at 204-239-6950. For more information on Mental Health Week go to www.mentalhealthweek.ca.
