Portage la Prairie Mayor Irvine Ferris is upset about recent vandalism at Rotary Republic Park.

An ATV was driven onto a soccer field, causing significant damage.

Ferris is dismayed by what's happened, adding you can help.

"The PRRA has put a reward out for information leading to prosecution of the people responsible. There's been a lot of work gone into these fields. These fields are known throughout the province as probably some of the best we have, and this is very disappointing. So we want people think about that -- we could use the public's help."

At the same time, Ferris notes there are positive things happening at Republic as well. He points to the Portage Rotary Club's $5000 donation for ongoing work by the PRRA for upgrades to attract some large events to the park.

"And this is part of a ten year commitment the Rotary Club has made, to donate a total of $50,000. This will be used for upgrades. David Sattler, our manager, is looking at upgrades that could attract some pretty big events in the next year or so, to Republic Park."
