It was a great night for an exhibition opening and artist talk at the Portage and District Arts Centre last night in Portage la Prairie.

Rob and Melodie Dondo's photo-art gallery 'Travels' is on display for the next month and a half. "About two years ago we decided to get started," says Melodie. "We've had a display in Carman, one in Winnipeg, and we've been entering the juried art exhibit and usually (Rob's) or mine is picked. They end up on tour, too."

Rob explains how the dynamic duo get things done.

"Melodie has done most of the taking and framing, getting the pictures developed, and also doing the editing on the computer. She has a little more time to do that so I take the pictures and she goes through them all and sees which ones she likes."

One of the Dondo's pictures shot right here in Manitoba.

She says their gallery at the PDAC will seem very familiar to those that stop by.

"We like to go and take pictures through Manitoba mostly. We've got pictures here from other countries and across Canada, but if you compare them to Manitoba it's just as beautiful here," says Melodie. "You can find anything in Manitoba, you just have to venture out and look, whereas everybody thinks you have to go to another country to see something gorgeous. But it's right here in the province."

They encourage you to come down and try to guess where some of the photos may have been taken. 'Travels' runs until January 21st.
