The Manitoba Beef Producers have had to change the way they go about their 'town halls' due to COVID-19.

General manager of Manitoba Beef Producers Carson Callum says they typically do their district meetings across the province at this time of the year. However, this year they are going to have to do it virtually.

"We're going to be hosting ten virtual meetings, seven of which will be specific to a certain district," explains Callum. "This will be on the Zoom platform. We're hoping as many folks as possible can get pre-registered and take part in this event."

Callum says they like to take feedback during these meetings while also giving the rundown of the past year.

"Usually we have an agenda that covers some of the stuff MBP does, on behalf of producers, over the year," says Callum. "We look at some audited financials and we get some interesting speakers in, usually from a national perspective, to talk about important things in the industry. We then take time to talk about some of the issues that might be impacting certain districts, or the industry as a whole, and discuss ways the MBP can advocate for those issues."

District three will be seeing an election during their meeting due because the district's current president is retiring and is finished his term with the board.

For those looking to attend Callum outlines how you can do so.

"We're encouraging folks to visit our website. We have a dedicated page for our 2020 district meetings that has all the links for each of the specific district meetings or some of the joint town halls. It will take them through some prompts to pre-register for that. If anyone has any trouble they can give us a call at our office 1-800-772-0458."

These meetings begin on October 19th and conclude on November 5th.
