A 68-year-old man was killed in a collision with a train in Arden, Man., yesterday, RCMP say in a release.

Police say on Jan. 8, just after 8:30 p.m., Neepawa RCMP responded to a collision between a pickup truck and train at the Boughton Street tracks in Arden -- located north of Neepawa on Hwy 352.

Mounties say the initial investigation determined the driver of an eastbound pickup truck was travelling at a low rate of speed when he approach the uncontrolled railway crossing. He attempted to stop, but was struck by a northbound train. Police say road conditions were icy at the time of the collision.

Alcohol is not considered a factor. An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
