**UPDATED**

Some good news for us from Environment Canada this morning. The special weather statement issued yesterday has ended.

It predicted somewhere between 5 and 10 cm of snow today in the Portage la Prairie region, and upwards of 10 cm to the east of us.

Environment Canada's Justin Share tells us most of the snow's going to fall in the southeast part of the province.

"So, primarily, over the Steinbach, Pinawa, and Sprague regions," he says, "It's really looking like Portage to be in the clear for the most part. There's going to be some snow today, but not in the amounts that we're expecting toward the southeast. As we move into Winnipeg, we're looking at about 5 cm, and then it's going to be a sharp increase toward the southeast."

Share explains what happened with the weather system.

"The western edge just started pulling further to the southeast of this system. So right now, as far as the stronger accumulations, Winnipeg's on that western edge. And so, now that system, just the way it's developed, is actually heading a little further to the southeast. The delineating line is through Winnipeg, and areas to the southeast will see quite a bit of snow."
