Some students from Southport's Lighthouse Christian School returned from the International Student Convention in the U.S.

LCS Principal Darlene Long says they took 9 students, 5 boys and 4 girls.

"We went to Warrensburg, Missouri. This is a yearly trip for our students, and they participate in things as athletics, music and drama. They have a great time competing with schools from all over the world. There's roughly 2500 people that attend the International Student Convention -- and our students -- we're proud of them."

Long says some students had success.

"We're quite excited that our relay team, and one student in photography, brought home medals this year. We actually took 9 students, 5 guys and 4 girls travelled down, and the girls participated in many things too, but just not quite bringing the medals home. But we're still quite proud of everything they participated in."

She says it's a yearly trip and they always look forward to the opportunity.
