The RM of Cartier continues the fight against trains whistling as they enter settlement centres. Reeve Dale Fossay says it's being going on for some time now.

"We've had an application in the works for about 15 years or more, and it seems to have gotten their attention and sometimes it seems like it's fallen away. We'll renew it again, and do what we have to to make sure anti-whistling -- if we can apply for it -- safety is their concern too. So if there's a lot of traffic, pedestrian traffic, there's some challenges with bringing in anti whistling."

Fossay outlines where he's getting the most complaints from.

"3 areas in particular. The small community of Benard, just west of Elie. The small hamlet of Dacotah, and primarily the Village of Elie. That's where the concern is because there's more pedestrian traffic there."

Fossay says with new regulations in place, they'll have to start from scratch with their application.
