Diverting water in various forms will be the focus this year in the RM of Bifrost-Riverton. Reeve Harold Foster says land drainage is one issue.

"I guess it's important for us to continue draining agricultural land. We have a couple of major projects we've been working on. We need to work with the Department of Highways to get some crossings through Highway 222. A few years ago they rebuilt Number 8 Highway. I suggested to them that they need to install large enough culverts when they rebuilt it, because that couldn't be done again for 40 years. They did that. I give them credit for that."

Foster says that moved water a mile closer to Lake Winnipeg and turned highway 222 into a dike through which water crossings have to be built to allow water to flow the rest of the way into the lake.

He adds, "We're working on a variety of those. We 're working on the Finns Road crossing and it's going to take a lot of digging as well."
