This year's Keystone Cup hockey tournament is being hosted by the town of Arborg.

The tournament began on Thursday and Interlake MLA Derek Johnson notes it's really exciting for Arborg, explaining it brings in a lot of money for the town. All the hotels in Arborg and the surrounding region are full, and the local restaurants, as well as the canteen at the event, are receiving plenty of business. He adds when he drove by the local Chicken Chef there wasn't a parking spot to be found.

Interlake MLA Derek JohnsonJohnson comments on all the work which goes into planning an event like this.

"I think they've been planning for this for a long time. I purchased an ad in their handout here a couple months ago, so the planning has been going on for a long, long time and the amount of volunteers; I can't imagine."

Bifrost-Riverton Reeve Harold Foster says it's amazing how hockey can bring people together this way; from the many volunteers who helped organise the event to all the people

"It's great because we don't get the opportunity to do this very often because it's a one time, once a year event, so it gets spread out between different communities. So, it's great that we got a chance at it."

Foster adds organising something like this is massive.

The Keystone Cup continues today and Sunday.
