Monday saw the annual kickoff for the "You've Been Jingled" program in Portage la Prairie put on by the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation. Executive Director Val Garlick says it started last year with a lot of great response.

"We are excited to start jingling across our community again this year. It's really a way to pay it forward. It fits with the holiday season, and hopefully, we can spread some holiday cheer throughout Portage la Prairie."

She explains a neighbour, co-worker, or even a stranger may jingle you by dropping off a gift, or some baked goods for the season. You then display the accompanying notice in your window to let others know you've already been jingled. and then you're given instructions to do the same for somebody else. Garlick says it's not always necessary to give a gift, but doing something special for someone, like shoveling their driveways or sidewalks.
