Hometown Hockey is coming to Portage la Prairie the weekend of March 25 and 26.

Co-chair of the organising committee David Sattler notes one of the highlights of the weekend will likely be the Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks game shown on the outdoor screen Sunday evening.

Sattler shares some of the celebrities in attendance at the event.

"We expect to see Tara Slone and Hometown Hank on festival site all weekend. Ron MacLean is going to be here on Sunday to host live from Portage la Prairie. The alumni and musical acts are still being worked out but I believe they'll be here all weekend as well."

He explains there will also be a special feature about Southport in the Hometown Must.

"It's a weekly thing they show about the community that they're hosting in, so they selected Southport flight training school. So Tara will be going out to Southport on the Friday prior to the event and spending a day as a flight student."

The Hometown Must will be featured in the Hometown Hockey broadcast during Sunday's game.

The festival takes place on the island just south of the MNP Building and will run from noon to six on the Saturday and noon to ten on the Sunday.
