The Portage Peewee AA Terriers' quest to be crowned Chevrolet's Good Deeds Cup Champions hit a bit of a snag this week.

Chevrolet announced that the online voting process for the 13 finalists has been compromised, and they would be holding another vote later on once the problem has been rectified.

"I don't know the dates that voting will resume because they haven't completely figured out a way to prevent people from hacking in and getting bots to vote," says Al Patterson, Pewee Terriers Head Coach. "It was a little weird how certain communities had hundreds of thousands of votes in such short period of time but sometimes you wonder if they're getting that support or if something's gone wrong, and obviously this time something went wrong."

"Chevrolet has been made aware that the Good Deeds Cup voting has been compromised. The Good Deeds Cup was created to inspire Canadians to be better citizens. We therefore take this issue very seriously and want to apologize to those impacted. The goal of the Good Deeds Cup is to encourage good sportsmanship on and off the ice, which includes a fair vote and positive experience for all participating teams. After careful consideration we have decided to re-launch the voting phase of the contest. We will be setting the votes back to zero for all 13 finalists. Once we are confident that the voting mechanisms are secure, we will reinstate the voting phase. All contest participants will be notified by email when timing of reinstatement has been determined." - Statement from Chevrolet Website

"It's great that (Chevrolet) is resetting the voting process," adds Patterson. "The whole thing they were looking for was about good deeds and it's just ironic that someone has found a way to muck it up a little bit by not necessarily doing a good deed to get the prize money."

The second round of voting will commence Thursday, March 30th. Find the initial story on the Terriers shot at the Good Deeds Cup here.
