The Citizens On Patrol Program and the RCMP held their annual golf tournament at the Portage Golf Club yesterday raising money for KidSport. Rose from C.O.P.P. says it's a milestone year for the event.

"We're having the tenth anniversary C.O.P.P./R.C.M.P. Golf Tournament this afternoon. We have 160 golfers out there, and about 15 volunteers. Everybody's having a great time and the weather's perfect. We have four C.O.P.P. members that are cooking 177 steaks for supper."

RCMP Inspector Rick Head RCMP Inspector Rick Head says the day was fantastic.

"It's a great day. A lot of the members are getting out along with the Citizen's On Patrol Program, and lots of business partners. Just a fun day where we get to raise a bit of money to help out the Citizen's on Patrol for KidSport. This is our tenth year in doing it, so we're excited about. I'd say today we probably have 15 or 20 playing just from our own office. But we have members from all across Southern Manitoba coming out for this. There has to be 40 police officers out there at least, I would think." "

KidSport Regional Sport Development Officer Leanne Traynor outlines how the money's spent.

KidSport Regional Sport Development Officer Leanne Traynor "It's to help raise funds through this tournament to help KidSport. So, we're their charity of choice. KidSport's a national charity that is administered here in the Province by Sport Manitoba. And basically what it does, it helps kids who come from low income families who can't afford to register for sport to help cover the fees.
