You may have noticed some work being done on the green beside the entrance to Southport Airport and Commercial Properties. Director of operations Wade Linden explains they're preparing for a new display.

Wade Linden"We'll be installing a Golden Centennaire as our gate guard here at Southport," says Linden. "The site has been vacant for a few years since the military took back one of their old aircraft that was out here. It should be up in the next month or so."

He says the Golden Centennaire flew at Southport in years gone by, and they found one available for sale. They're pointing the aircraft on a pedestal toward the entrance and upward on an angle as though in flight.

Linden adds they hope it's the first of others to be displayed, perhaps including a helicopter.
