In a contest between a giant smoking pipe, several planes and windmills, some birds and a giant fire hydrant, it was the glass bottle buildings in Treherne that came out the winner.

Central Manitoba Tourism held a Facebook contest over the last few weeks which had users vote for the best roadside attraction in the region.

The glass bottle buildings built by Bob and Dora Cain along with Fred Harp were donated to the community in 2005.

The contest started with sixteen different attractions, which culminated in a final round where the buildings received 53 per cent of the vote over Archie the Turtle in Morden.

More than 18,000 votes were cast in the contest, including more than 3,600 in the final.
