Yellowquill School in Portage la Prairie is hosting the Rogers Hometown Hockey tour on March 25 and 26. Portage la Prairie School Division superintendent Todd Cuddington says it's coming at a great time.

"Obviously it's a big event for the city," says Cuddington. "The fact that Rogers Hometown Hockey is coming here is a nice way to end the week as we move into our Spring break. Our folks at Yellowquill School have been gracious enough to act as the host school."

He says Hometown Hanks's the tour mascot and will be accompanied by some Cirque du Soleil-type performances, as well as a special speaker who's not yet been named. Cuddington adds local talent will also be highlighted from PCI who'll be singing.

Local school buses will be utilized to help people get to the event to help avoid congestion for those trying to get there.
