The RM of Woodlands council recently reviewed its gas tax revenue report. Reeve Trevor King says the gas tax money has a huge impact on all municipalities, noting those funds go toward many projects they probably could never afford to do without raising taxes. King says that includes items like road projects and expansion of the lagoon. He notes having the gas tax also means they don't have to deal with borrowing by-laws which their municipality just cannot afford. King adds at budget time when they have larger projects as a priority, the money from the gas tax certainly makes it easier to choose those priorities---whatever they may be. He says the Federation of Canadian Municipalities lobbied very hard for this money, noting we can all be very appreciative of those efforts.
