The Municipality of Westlake-Gladstone is preparing to stockpile sand in Westbourne. Mayor David Single says at this point they don't expect a huge spring flood but they are concerned about the lake levels coming up later on. Single notes while that wouldn't affect any communities, farmers along the lake and some cabin owners could be dealing with some unwanted water. He says since amalgamation this is the first year they've been worried about a flood, but they're always prepared for the possibility and they always have sandbags in stock. Single adds they're also prepared to get sand in when they need it.

He says the situation around the lake is something a bit new for most of the municipality's councillors, so they don't quite know what to expect. Single notes right now the lake levels are at their upper limit, adding if the Assiniboine River really starts pumping it would definitely be a concern.
