The Prairie Fiddlers are performing this afternoon at the William Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie. Director Mark Morisseau says it's become a holiday tradition.

Mark Morisseau"The Prairie Fiddlers show has been going on about 19 years now. They consist of 50 performers that gather in one stage and do numerous pieces together, as well as individual pieces. We have performers of all ages spanning from five to retirement."

He notes 14 different communities are represented at the event that includes fiddle music, special dance performances, and vocal pieces. Morisseau adds a full band will back up the performances. He says they also have several recording artists who always come back and perform with the others for the event.

It takes place this afternoon at 2:00 pm. Doors open at 1:30, and tickets $15.00 and $7.00 for 12 and under. At the Wm. Glesby Centre.
