The fourth annual Whoop and Hollar Folk Festival's coming up in just over two months, and organizers have finalized the line-up for the eight hour event, south of Portage la Prairie.

Linda Omichinski's looking forward to this year's edition, noting it'll feature some new components, including a close collaboration with indigenous people. She calls that important.

"It's sacred. There's a beautiful bonding happening, and Angela Roulette and myself feel that this just a beautiful experience with working together on something important for musicians, as well as for (the) indigenous and non-indigenous community working together."

Omichinski adds they're excited to have former Doc Walker guitarist Murray Pulver's new band Ego Spank performing.

"We feel quite elated. Murray and Ego Spank will not only be doing a full hour set, they'll also be part of our musician jam session called High Gravity Stew Brew. They'll be collectively leading High Gravity Stew Brew, as other musicians input into the mix. So who knows what will come out of that."

There's also be a Francophone feel to this year's festival, and she notes inclusiveness is key.

"That's important to us -- inclusiveness, diversity, and sustainability, so this adds to that inclusive component. We would like people from St. Claude, Notre Dame, please come out and make Whoop and Hollar part of your summer."

The festival needs volunteers as well. Here's a link.
