Farm women from across the province had a chance to reconnect this week in Portage la Prairie.

The city hosted the 30th Annual Manitoba Farm Women's Conference on Monday and Tuesday. Attendance at the event was pegged at about 130 people.

Event Chair Ann Mandziuk said there were women of all ages in the crowd.

"I look around the room and I see so many young faces here,” she said. “I think when we do the evaluation we're going to find out that we have a lot of young women in the younger age groups and that's absolutely fantastic for us because it's something that we're working for and maybe we'll get some volunteers for our next committees and help us plan the next one."

Key topics covered at the event included financial literacy and gender equality.

The theme of this year's event was “Fuel The Pulse”, which recognized 2016 as the International Year of Pulses.
