A book launch at the Portage Regional Library scheduled for tonight is postponed. The launch will instead take place Tuesday, March 14.

Local author Edgar Desjarlais is giving a reading of his new book.

"He's an author, educator, and musician, and this is his first children's book," says Lori Mackedenski, program directory for the library. "It's called 'I Don't Like Bugs' and it's even got a translation by William Sanderson in Michif Language. The reading is Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., March 14, at the Library."

Mackedenski says Desjarlais plans to make the event a lot more than just a book reading.

"It should be a really exciting time because Edgar has decided to give the launch a bit of a Metis theme. Gary Lepine will be on the fiddle providing a little background music for us, and Edgar has promised some bannock will be available. There's no charge for it and everyone is welcome. Edgar will be reading from the book and he'll talk about the process of writing books too."

This is Desjarlais' second book he's written, the first one was called 'The Tobans' and is a novel geared toward the young adult audience. It tells a story of an all indigenous hockey team that went to England for a hockey tournament. That book is also available at the Portage Regional Library.

the Tuesday's reading starts at 6:30 p.m.
