Emergency call numbers to STARS Air Ambulance in Manitoba are in for the Month of October. Base Director for Stars Air Ambulance Grant Therrian said motor vehicle accidents on Highways in South Central Manitoba really stood out.

In September we seen fifty five emergency calls for the province, Stars received a total of sixty five emergency calls in October, seventeen were in South Central Manitoba.

"Nine of the Seventeen calls we received for south Central Manitoba were due to motor vehicle collisions," said Therrian.

Currently Manitoba sits at eighty two motor vehicle collision fatalities for 2016, when there were only fifty five in total for all of 2015. Grant Therrian mentioned he was concerned, considering we have not even hit the peak winter season yet, when many motor vehicle accidents historically occurring after the first snow fall.

"We encourage everyone going forward to take a slow safe approach when travelling, and to avoid distractions like cell phones heading into the winter season," said Therrian.

Therrian explained that while you get ready for winter STARS is preparing for the cold, too.
