The Elm Creek Skating Rink has seen some significant upgrades thanks to support from local businesses and organizations.

"We had some local donations and we just did some repairs and upgrading to the local volunteer skating rink," says President Chris Miller. "We did some painting and got new benches and did some upgrades to the dressing rooms."

He says the rink has been around since about 1967 and it's never looked better.

"Cargill gave us $7,000. The local Carman Area Foundation was $1,500. Just under $9,000 in total," says Miller. "It's pretty amazing to get the donations. It's a volunteer rink. It means a lot to the community to make some upgrades and keep the building up to speed with everything and it makes it look a lot nicer. It's pretty great for the local businesses (to help us), and the grants that we can apply for to allow this to happen."

Prairie Roots Co-op donated the paint and PD's Painting painted the lobby. Rachel Lancaster created the mural.

He also wants to highlight the work of the local volunteers who keep it running.
