A decision was made at last week's RM of Portage la Prairie council meeting to change the policy regarding dust control. Reeve Kam Blight outlines the move.

"We're eliminating the middleman. Council's approved some changes. We're going to be providing everyone with notification and contact information of a contractor (whom) residents can contact directly and schedule or book their dust control for their own properties and the roads in front of their properties."

He notes the RM will still be in communication with the contractor in order to prepare the roads needing the control, but basically the middleman is being eliminated. RM private homeowners will then deal directly with the contractor. He adds a tender's been put out to several providers and contractors.
