Portage la Prairie RCMP are investigating an apparent drive by shooting last week in the Municipality of North Norfolk.

Constable Sean O'Keefe says it happened in a remote part of the municipality just after 10, on the evening of June 6th.

"It was still light out, and the victims in the incident were in their yard. The gentleman was in his garage, the young lady of the home was playing with her dogs in the front yard when what they believe was a blue, or dark gray, Ford Ranger pulled up alongside their home, and suddenly a shot rang out, and the young lady believed that she heard the bullet zing over her head."

O'Keefe says no one was hurt, but the police are taking this seriously.

"Our officers that night performed extensive patrols of the area, searching for the suspect's vehicle. They came in contact with many that matched the description, but were able to determine that none of them had any involvement. Due to the remote location, where it took place, obviously, any information we that we might be able to get from local residents, or anyone has any information about the incident itself, we're encouraging everyone to let us know about this."

O'Keefe adds the police are following up with the victims.

"And they're going to be given every opportunity to speak with Victim Services, and make use of that. I can't speak to their condition at the moment, unfortunately, but we offer any assistance in these kind of incidents. With the news from south of the border, and other incidents across the country, any kind of gun violence, we can't have that."

The RCMP believe a .22 calibre weapon was used.
