Some good news for campers in the Portage la Prairie area.

The re-developed Delta Beach campground should be ready for business on Canada day.

RM of Portage Councillor Roy Tufford says there's not much work left to be done.

"It's not going to beautiful for some time yet," he says, "But it's going to be useable. The water's up, electrical's hooked up, we're moving the registration building out there shortly, picnic table and firepits are all purchased, and just need to be placed, and site numbering is going to all be done in the next couple of weeks. It's starting to come together."

Tufford believes July 1st is attainable.

"I think we're going to make that date," he says, "There may be some minor things that have to be done, but nothing that's going to stop it from being used, as of that date. In fact, from what I hear from David (Sattler, PRRA GM), is he may let some daytime users in there as early as June 22nd."
