Snowfall amounts for Portage la Prairie are in for the month of December, and last year's accumulation was above average. That's from Environment Canada meteorologist Natalie Hasell who shares the figures.

"In the month of December normally you would have seen around 25 cm," Hasell explains. "This is a mathematical average. Which month is normal, or which year is normal is not actually a reality. Certainly there are years with a lot less and years with a lot more. But on average, we would expect about 25 cm of snow in December."

Hasell says Winnipeg got about 68 cm in December, and Portage counted a significant 79.6 cm.
