It's a sad day in the Town of Oakville and surrounding area following the news of one of its shining light's, Darcy Miller's, passing. That's from RM of Portage la Prairie Reeve and Oakville resident Kam Blight who shares his thoughts about Miller.

"Darcy and his family were very involved in our community for quite a few years. They certainly weren't afraid to give back. Darcy was definitely involved in a lot of things in the community. He gave a lot of support to different organizations such as the Community Club, the Skating Rink and, of course, Oakville School."

Blight describes the impression Miller's kind of support gives.

"I think that just speaks to how good some people really are, and how caring they are, and how much they believe in their community. It's just so nice to see people wanting to invest and give back to the community they've grown up in and now that they've had their family grown up in. It just speaks of the longevity of the community going forward. When you see someone invest like they have in the Town of Oakville, I think it really shows how great of a place it is."

He adds, "It also speaks volumes of the type of people Darcy and his wife are, and how they are always going to step up and give back. It truly is special, and it's a terribly sad day for sure."

Blight says one it's hard to pick something that stands out. He notes Miller's support of Oakville school shows how concerned he was to help kids have as good of a learning as possible.

"Their Growing Support For Cancer they worked with is something that is truly special. There are many people out there who's families have been touched by cancer. To see how they put a lot of their efforts and finances toward trying to find a cure, and to help people deal with the battle that lies ahead for them is truly incredible."
