The Portage and District Arts Centre held their year-end Dance Recital on the weekend at the Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie.

"The kids killed it on stage," says Bretton Selent, owner operator and instructor with X-Company.

The Portage & District Arts Centre coordinates a 24 week Dance Program starting in September and ending with a fantastic Dance Recital in April.

“The students worked very hard all dance season to prepare for this exciting event", says Lee Beaton, Marketing & Events Coordinator at PDAC. "They were just amazing on stage and the crowd loved the entire performance! Congratulations to all the dancers!”

“A great big thank-you to all the volunteers who helped make the PDAC Dance Recital the huge success it was. I would also like to thank Rob Painter with Investors Group, and Mil-Jeanne Flowers & Axcenz for their tremendous support,” says Erin McCallister, assistant to the Executive Director at PDAC. “We greatly appreciate the dedication from parents to the PDAC Dance Program. We are looking forward to our next dance season."

"We've been practicing for a while, but I've been dancing since I was maybe four. I danced to Footloose for Jazz, and I had a violinist for the ballet. Our teachers are really good, it was awesome. "

Joel Byers had a busy night on the stage. He performed three dances.

"I did a contemporary dance, a jazz-advanced dance, and a lyrical solo," says Byers. "I choreographed the lyrical solo myself. I put many hours and sweat into it, and it was really hard to get through because of how busy I was but I pushed through and got it done. My older sister was one of my inspirations to dance so I owe a lot to her."

Byers is also a dance trainer in training. He's helped out with classes this year.

"I really want to thank them for giving me the opportunity to teach alongside them."
