Community support continues to pour in for the family affected by a fatal fire at Delta Beach last week.

Merle Cyr and Melissa Moore lost their four-year-old son Landon in the blaze. Their entire home was razed. Many donations have come in to help the family, and fundraisers planned. Portage Evangelical Church is the latest community group to try and do its part to help, by hosting a dinner in support of the family this weekend.

Donna Moman, organizer of the fundraising dinner at Portage Evangelical Church Sunday.

"Their loss is about so much more than just the financial loss, and the fundraiser won't raise that much money," says event organizer Donna Moman, noting Youth For Christ Portage is helping host. "But it's more to come alongside them, and say as a community: 'we're thinking about you, praying about you and care about you.'"

"I think it would just be a real blessing for both Merle and Melissa to see the community, once again, coming around to support them."

Moman notes many people made contributions to put on the dinner. All the food -- pork supper, baked potatoes, coleslaw and pies -- plates and cutlery were donated, allowing all proceeds to go directly to the family.

The fundraising dinner is at 6 p.m. at Portage Evangelical Church Sunday.
