The RM of Woodlands has virtually completed its rural civic addressing process.

At this week's meeting, the RM Council dealt with what Reeve Trevor King describes as a rural part of the town of Warren.

They named a service road along Highway 6, north of Road 77, Manness Drive, after Fred Manness, who sub-divided the area. King's pleased the family approved the idea.

"One of the streets just a little bit to the east of it is named Edwina Drive, which, of course, is Fred's wife, and we felt it was most appropriate to have the street further to the west named Fred Manness Drive," he says, "Of course, Fred has passed away, now, for a number of years, and it's one way to remember someone who was a pillar in our community."

King says they also worked on getting numbers for lots in the LUD of Warren.

"Basically, some of the lots in towns and the rural settlements didn't have any numbering at all on the tax rolls, it was just cleaning things up, and making sure everything's up to date."

The third numbering by-law focused on the Rural Settlement of Woodlands, where a several lots hadn't been numbered.

"The town of Woodlands is a just rural settlement -- it's not an LUD, so it's just considered rural. It's a village, and so it's just a matter of updating everything in that area, too. I think we pretty much have it all cleaned up, to where everyone in the rural area of the RM of Woodlands now has civic addressing."
