The City of Portage la Prairie wants to inform you of a few services during COVID-19 - including plenty of phone-based and online services.

The first is the city's app, Connect Portage, which is a communication platform. City Councillor Wayne Wall says it lets the city send you emergency updates by phone, text, or email.

“If you’re signed up for it, you will get regular updates in an emergency from the City of Portage over your phone or in your email. If you haven’t signed up yet, it’s fairly simple.”

The city also has a way for you to pay your bills online.

“You can go to the city website, and there’s information on how to sign up there. I pay my water bill and taxes online to City Hall, so there’s no need for me to go there and do those things. If you’re interested in that, go to the website and sign up for e-services.”

Southern Health-Santé Sud is offering a wellness line for people who are having trouble coping with COVID-19 isloation.

“There’s a support line, it’s a confidential phone number, anybody can call to speak with a mental health clinician,” says Wall. "I know a lot of people are having difficulty dealing with isolation right now. If you need to talk to anyone, there’s an 888 number.”

You can find these resources on the Portage la Prairie website.
