The second day of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce's 85th Annual General Meeting wrapped up yesterday at Canad Inns in Portage. Portage la Prairie and District Chamber President Dave Omichinski says the information sessions that were on throughout the day were really good.

Portage la Prairie and District Chamber President Dave Omichinski"The sessions this morning that I attended were just great. There was one that I attended on economic development that had a panel discussion, and I found it to be an absolutely super session. From a local perspective, I fully expect that we will ask some of the speakers from today to meet with some of our other stake holders so that we can work together, more effectively, on economic development because they have some really good ideas."

Omichinski says it's been great weekend to showcase the city of portage to a lot of members of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce.

"In terms of being able to bring in individuals from across the province in order to profile Portage and show them how much we have to offer, this was super. I know from the feedback that everybody enjoyed Friday night out at Southport, the tour of the island and the PCU Centre and the lake. The sessions were great today, and the facilities here at Canad Inns were great as well, so it's been good."

Chamber President and CEO Chuck Davidson explains it was a busy day, but everything went well.

Manitoba Chambers of Commerce President and CEO Chuck Davidson"We had some great sessions on economic outlook in terms of where the Canadian economy is going and some of the challenges ahead, which was very interesting. We were really happy that the new minister was here for a luncheon address and spoke to the membership. We did some sessions in regards to tourism and the importance of that industry as well, so it was a great day."

The 85th annual AGM wraps up today.
