Non-profit charities interested in the Community Foundation of Portage and District's fall grants have until October 1st to get their application in.

CFPD Executive Director Mary Lynn Moffat says even though the deadline falls on a weekend people can still send their applications in via email. She outlines some of the criteria that must be met.

"Anyone applying for the grant must be a registered charity. We'll need to know a little bit about the project, the costs associated with the project, and the impact it will have. The application forms are available on our website, and we'd be more than willing to help anyone that has questions."

Moffat says a committee of Board member will make the selection, which is never an easy one.

"We always get far more requests than we have the funds to give, but we try to work with as many folks as we can to find ways to do projects in the community that are going to have an impact for the residents of the community and district."
